Highlights of some of our recent activities in the areas of Market
Information, Export Development, Market Penetration & Diversification
include:
• Developed and implemented
market information systems and market databases for USAID funded
projects in Albania, Sri Lanka and several African countries as
well as for the Atlantic Canada Trade Mission. Trained stakeholders
in producing monthly market information reports tailored to their
needs.
• Conducted market studies
for Sri Lankan entrepreneurs, the Caribbean Export Development
Agency, the Government of Jamaica, the Lebanese Food Industry
Association, Egyptian food processors, and the Center for International
Private Enterprise (CIPE). Also conducted competitiveness and
export promotion studies in Sri Lanka, Chad, Mali, the Ivory Coast,
South Africa and Portugal.
• Conducted an assessment of
the economic development of Antigua for the Antiguan Ministry
of Industry, Trade and Tourism. Evaluated and made recommendations
on the Government’s policies on investment, trade small
business development and tourism.
• Assisted entrepreneurs and
development projects in numerous countries with the introduction
and export development, marketing, and promotion of specialty
agri-business products to the U.S. market. This includes a large
scale of sage from Albania in the latter part of 2003, as well
as the introduction of items such as olive oil and gourmet foods
from Egypt, Lebanon, and the Caribbean.
• Developed the overall marketing
program for Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, resulting in worldwide
product identification and increased worldwide sales.
• Developed and implemented
training programs on the general norms, requirements and terms
for dealing in international trade, as well as specific norms
and nuances of trading in the U.S. and Europe. We not only conduct
study-tours, seminars, workshops and meetings, but also assist
entrepreneurs on a one-to-one basis (Albania, Antigua, Canada,
Egypt, Lebanon, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka).
• Conducted seminars on the
new FDA Bioterrorism Act and its rules which went into effect
on December 12, 2003. Act as agent – without payment when
under USAID projects – for several exporters under the aforementioned
Act for purposes of notification and advisement.
• Conducted numerous in-country
seminars for thousands of food processors and exporters world-wide
on various export marketing techniques including the use of trade
shows as an export marketing vehicle for both the United States
and European Union Markets, as well as the importance of sales
promotion, packaging, and labeling.
• Developed and implemented
seminars on niche market identification and product diversity.
Identified international niche markets for 20 Canadian companies
and potential buyers and secured meetings with those buyers.
• Provided advice to exporters
(through seminars, workshops and one-to-one meetings) regarding
the transport and export of their products to all markets.
• Designed and conducted a
rapid assessment of the ecotourism potential in Great Himalaya
National Park. Surveyed trails and attractions, identified infrastructure
and resource management needs, made recommendations on policy,
resource use, target market development, and business skills training
for local communities.
